CBATX creates programming utilizing an intersectional framework, understanding at womayn of color exist at the intersections of multiple systems of oppression that include but are not limited to: gender, race, sexual identity, etc. These space serve as consciousness-raising spaces where womayn can cultivate social support and foster resilience.
CBATX intentionally creates brave spaces for womayn of the African Diaspora to collaborate and become emboldened to create their own tools for liberation. “For Black womayn to be free it would mean that everyone else would have to be free since our freedom would necessitate the destruction of all the systems of oppression.”
ANNUAL EVENTS
Annually CBATX intentionally curates spaces that seek to meet the holistic needs of people of the global majority and of the African Diaspora locally. We host two annual self-care centered summits, the Womayn of the African Diaspora Summit on the first Saturday of Women's Month and the Womayn of the Global Majority Summit each Fall. Each summit is purposed to provide womayn the opportunity to convene and collaborate while discussing topics that impact us the most. The Juneteenth Health Festival is purposed to connect health care providers, healers, academics and advocates of the African Diaspora with the community through free workshops and community fellowship.
